Stuck

Are you familiar with the heavy presence of negative self-talk? Those lingering doubts and self-criticisms that echo through your daily life?

Today, I share a personal moment of vulnerability.

After college, I found success working for a good company that nurtured growth from within, but after fourteen years, my passion waned. Despite some aspects I enjoyed, my job stifled my creative side and caring nature. I became depressed. I told myself to get over it. The salary was great. I should appreciate what I had. I just needed a hobby.

Nothing worked. I felt stuck on the wrong path unsure how to find the right one or what the right one even looked like.

An opportunity arose serving as Youth Minister at my church where I’d been volunteering, though offering a fraction of my corporate income. With a newborn at home, it felt foolish to consider it. Doubts plagued me. I loved working with the High School students but I lacked training in youth ministry. Could we survive on a smaller income? All the while I grew more restless at work. I felt stuck until the day I decided to pursue my values. Then, I discovered a way forward.

In my upcoming master class, “Overcome Negative Self-Talk: Lies We Tell Ourselves and How to Hear the Truth,” I’ll delve into the neuroscience behind self-criticism hindering our creative instincts and share recommendations from leading researchers. Through my journey, I've found that conquering negative self-talk involves moving ahead despite its presence and prioritizing values over inner voices of fear and doubt.

I accepted that Youth Minister position and loved it. Money was tight but we figured it out. Eight years later I became a pastor. Sixteen years later I founded Ridgeview Coaching (despite negative self-talk) to help people quiet negative voices and discover their inner greatness.

Imagine the transformation you’ll experience pursuing your values and the positive impact you’ll have on others? It’s possible.

I almost forgot. That great company I struggled to leave? Sadly, they closed two years later.

If you're in search of guidance or a compassionate ear, I'm here to support your journey toward unlocking your inner greatness. Let's take steps toward our values despite self-doubt, embracing a journey of resilience and growth.

Looking forward to connecting with you on February 5th.

Warm regards,

Tom
